I'm not sure it should be legal to have this much fun while you're getting paid. Doing a funny play about Richard Nixon in the Washington, DC market doesn't automatically mean it will be a smash hit; but it certainly helps. For the advance publicity campaign, I designed an entire "campaign package" with buttons, bumper stickers, and the like. The invitations to Opening that the Press received became legendary. NIXON'S NIXON turned into a phenomenon. I've never been a part of something like that before or since. God, but it was fun!! The super-talented John Dimes drew the terrific caricature of Richard Nixon that graced all of our materials; I did the flag with the "swirling toilet vortex." Designed for one color materials.
